NCHAC polls see 56% voter turnout
More than 56% of registered voters participated in the election for the 22 seats of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) on Monday. Dima Hasao SP Mayank Kumar reported a peaceful election process with no untoward incidents. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates secured six of the 28 seats uncontested, while voting for the remaining 22 seats took place from 8 am to 4 pm. State election commission officials indicated that 55.9% of the 141,124 voters had cast their votes by 3 pm, with the final turnout expected to reach around 60%.
